Experian expands AI distribution and global verification reach

Finseta Plc

Experian has launched an Experian Credit Cards app on ChatGPT, bringing its credit card marketplace into a conversational AI environment. The service allows consumers to explore relevant card offers from Experian’s partner network and compare features including annual fees, introductory bonuses, rewards rates and interest rate offers without leaving the conversation.

Consumers who decide to proceed can then move to Experian to view offers matched to their Experian credit profile. Existing members may also be able to see pre-approved offers and products carrying Experian’s No Ding Decline designation, where an unsuccessful initial application does not affect the consumer’s credit score.

The launch represents another step in Experian’s attempt to position its financial marketplaces within emerging digital discovery channels. Rather than relying solely on consumers visiting conventional comparison or financial services websites, the company is making its products accessible at the point where users are increasingly asking financial questions.

That becomes increasingly relevant as conversational AI develops into a broader interface for researching and selecting financial products. Experian plans to introduce further personalisation to the credit card experience and expand lender participation, providing scope to deepen the range of products available through the channel.

At the same time, Experian is strengthening its business-facing verification capabilities through a partnership with iPiD, a payee verification specialist. The collaboration expands Experian’s existing UK account ownership verification coverage into Single Euro Payments Area markets and selected international regions across the Americas, Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

The combined service is intended to give businesses operating across borders a single way to verify bank account ownership before payments are made. At launch, iPiD’s verification network covers 30 countries, with the companies aiming to extend that reach towards 90% of the world’s banked population.

The technology verifies accounts in around 2.3 seconds and does not require additional action from the customer. This is designed to reduce dependence on manual verification processes such as reviewing uploaded bank documents, while allowing businesses to identify full, partial or unsuccessful account matches before completing a payment.
