CMC Markets expands US market access with 24/5 trading rollout

CMC Markets Plc

CMC Markets has expanded access to US equities by introducing 24-hour trading, five days a week, across more than 5,000 US shares and exchange-traded funds where overnight pricing is available.

The development broadens the company’s trading and investing proposition at a time when market participants increasingly expect access beyond the traditional opening hours of major exchanges. It also strengthens CMC Markets’ position as a multi-asset provider seeking to offer a more connected service across international markets.

Alongside the 24/5 offering, the company has introduced extended-hours trading for clients using CMC Invest. This increases the available US trading day from the standard six and a half hours to as much as 16 hours. The wider trading window gives clients more scope to manage positions around earnings announcements, corporate updates and global events that occur outside the main US market session.

Significant price movements can take place before the opening bell or after the closing auction. Many US companies publish financial results outside regular market hours, while economic announcements and geopolitical developments can affect valuations before the underlying exchanges reopen. Providing access during these periods may help clients respond more promptly, although trading outside the main session can involve different liquidity conditions, wider spreads and increased price volatility.

CMC Markets plc (LON:CMCX) is a UK-based financial services company that offers online trading in shares, spread betting, contracts for difference and foreign exchange across world markets.
