Arbuthnot Latham launches cross-border investment service for US-connected UK clients

Arbuthnot Banking Group

Arbuthnot Latham has launched Global Direct Service, a discretionary investment service for US-connected individuals living in the UK.

The service is designed for clients whose investment decisions must take account of both UK and US tax and reporting rules. That can make standard UK investment structures less suitable and increase the complexity of managing wealth across both jurisdictions.

Global Direct Service addresses this by investing directly in individual securities rather than pooled funds. Portfolios hold global equities and government bonds, giving clients direct ownership of the underlying investments.

This structure is intended to improve transparency and reduce some of the complications that can arise for US-connected clients using certain non-US funds. It also gives Arbuthnot Latham more control over how portfolios are built and adjusted within the constraints of cross-border financial planning.

The service forms part of the bank’s broader private banking and wealth management offering. It can be used alongside banking, lending and wealth planning, allowing financial decisions to be managed within one relationship rather than through several separate providers. Portfolios are built around long-term strategic asset allocations. Arbuthnot Latham can also make tactical adjustments when market conditions change.

The equity allocation is focused on major developed markets and uses a systematic process to select individual companies. Government bonds are also included to provide diversification within the portfolio.

Each portfolio is tailored to the client’s objectives and risk tolerance. The minimum investment is £750,000, or the equivalent in US dollars. Clients also have access to a dedicated private banking relationship. This allows investment management to be considered alongside borrowing, cash management and long-term wealth planning.

Arbuthnot Banking Group PLC (LON:ARBB), operating as Arbuthnot Latham, offers private and commercial banking products and services in the United Kingdom. Established in 1833, Arbuthnot Banking is headquartered in London, United Kingdom.
